Start your holiday season with glorious music as the Blair Concert Chorale, under the direction of Dr. Ryan Beeken, presents its 2016 Christmas Concert CAROL OF THE BELLS and are joined the Westminster Handbell Ensemble from Our Lady of Victory Church in State College plus a a multi-county contingent of the finest young singers in the area.

Approximately 100 musicians of all ages will fill St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church in Lakemont as the chorale welcomes the bell choir as well as the BCC’s Honors Choir, featuring the Altoona Area High School Vocal Ensemble plus top choristers from Claysburg-Kimmel, Penn Cambria, Cambria Heights, Hollidaysburg, Bishop Guilfoyle, Conemaugh Township and Northern Cambria High Schools. The BCC Children’s Choir, under the direction of Jennifer and Scott Pappal, also will perform.

Westminster Handbell Ensemble, under the direction of Gail Ritchey, is comprised of 13 individuals ringing 5-1/2 octaves of Schulmerich hand-bells, another 2 octave set of handbells, and 7 octaves of Malmark chimes. They will perform “Bell Carol Fantasy,” the Puerto Rican “Carol of the Wisemen” and “Greensleeves,” and accompany the chorale singers on “Christmastime,” “Carol of the Bells,” “Patapan,” “Joy to the World,” “Now the Green Blade Riseth” and Handel’s “Hallelujah Chorus.”

In addition to serving as the core of this year’s Honors Choir, the AAHS Vocal Ensemble will perform “Mary Did You Know: and “Sing We Now of Christmas.” The full Honors Choir will perform “On Christmas Night All Christians Sing” and “Christmas Canon” in addition to joining the BCC for the evening’s finale.

The BCC Children’s Choir will perform “Kyrie, Jesus Child” by John Rutter, “Ding! Dong! Merrily On High,” “Gloria in Excelsis Deo,” “Lullaby on the Wind,” A Festive Noel,” “Winterlight” and “Carmen Goes For a Sleigh Ride” arranged by local musician. Jack Sears.
